In the last days of the final month of the passing year, let me take you on a journey, to brighten the remaining days until Christmas, with festive spirit After we have mixed the stollen dough, we head to Vienna, a fairy place to discover culinary delights and find presents at beautiful Viennese Christmas markets.
Infected with festive spirit and in a great mood, I’m traversing the magically peaceful streets of Vienna, which enchant me with their decorations, the smiling people and the brilliant preparations for upcoming winter holidays.
Schnitzel, smell of roasted chestnuts, people ice skating in the centre of the city, delicious Glühwein (mulled wine) for the grownups and warm punch for the kids, all served in holidays mugs, specially crafted for the current year, unique at each Christmas market. Long lines of people, queued to get their portion of raclette, bread bowl with soup or fondue, bratwurst or bockwurst, served with sauerkraut and mustard on the side. And let’s not forget the sweets – chimney cakes with Nutella and nuts, speculaas and caramelised apples to name a few.
We’re also going to visit the Prater as well and check the highly recommended “Prater pub” to have their roasted knuckle and take a ride on the Ferris wheel.
As the Austrian people say: Zum Wohl! Cheers to a perfect December!
